Blank Canvas, Inc was established in Los Angeles in 2000, however the company moved to Phoenix when we needed more space for our dogs! So, Blank Canvas Construction, LLC opened for business in 2005. Initially, our primary focus was residential remodeling, design and specialist installations. We have since expanded into light commercial projects such as restaurants, bars and offices. We hold no preconceived ideas as we approach any project. We prefer instead, to gain a sense of who our clients are and their lifestyle before embarking on the work. We treat each commission as a “Blank Canvas” and are attentive to any ideas our clients have, detailed or vague, and build from them.
Toby Rolt started working in England over 25 years ago, making a name for himself initially by taking on eclectic and challenging custom carpentry commissions and then getting increasingly involved in all aspects of construction. In Europe he was involved in restorations, conversions and renovations for buildings dating as far back as the 13th Centaury! With all commissions he successfully negotiated with Historic societies and Government agencies to keep all projects on schedule, and worked with all trades to keep within budgets. Toby holds a Contractors license for both general and commercial work in Arizona. In addition, he holds relevant building qualifications for Europe and a catastrophic insurance adjuster’s license for most US states.)
Wendy Rolt was trained as an interior decorator and holds a degree from The Stratford Institute. She is currently studying for her BA in Interior Design and is a member of the ASID (American Society of Interior Design). Her eight years of experience in construction gives her first hand knowledge of the building process which is critical in ensuring her work is both aesthetically pleasing but also functional. Wendy also has a decades worth of experience as a VP of a multi billion dollar corporation, as well as various corporate ‘start ups’ and consequently is able to keep a tight handle on the often challenging logistics involved in a construction project.
